Former design student named CEO of REES Associates Inc.

Allan R. Parr, who earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design degree at Texas A&M in 1988, has been named chief executive officer of [REES Associates, Inc.] (http://www.rees.com/) , an architectural, planning, and interior design firm with offices in 10 North American cities.

“He has demonstrated outstanding leadership at global companies such as Compaq and Hewlett Packard, and has a strong track record as the president and chief operating officer of REES,” said Frank W. Rees, founder and chairman of the firm. “Allan is just the second CEO in the firm’s 37-year history and is well-prepared for this new role. I believe he will be tremendously successful.”

Parr joined the firm in 2009 as chief operating officer and director of operations for REES’ Dallas office, and was [promoted] (http://one.arch.tamu.edu/news/2011/6/25/parr-rees/) to firm president in 2011. A registered architect and member of the American Institute of Architects, Parr has more than 20 years of experience in operations management, project management, facilities operation, construction, design and business development.

He holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix. A native of Houston and an alumnus of Alief Hastings High School, Parr resides in Pinehurst, Texas with his wife and three children.

REES delivers architecture, planning and interior design services to local, national and international clients. The firm has completed more than 7,400 assignments in 42 states and 35 countries, specializing in healthcare, senior living, mission critical, broadcast, corporate/commercial, government, justice, and education projects across the globe.

Prior to joining REES, Parr’s experience included leadership of the Design, Engineering and Project Management organization for Hewlett Packard’s North America Region, as well as real estate manager for the worldwide headquarters of Compaq Computer Corporation, with comprehensive facility management responsibilities for more than six million square feet of administrative, laboratory, and manufacturing space. which housed more than 12,000 employees.

His previous experience also includes consulting with architecture and interior design practices in the roles of senior managing director, project director, project manager and project architect. In addition to corporate and mission critical facilities, Parr has experience in higher education, speculative commercial, retail, healthcare, hospitality, and residential project types.
