Academic excellence and leadership in two student groups has netted Alexandra Olheiser, a construction science major at Texas A&M, an outstanding student award from the National Association of Home Builders.

A keynote address by Hitesh Mehta, a leading designer of lodges and landscapes at ecotourism sites throughout the world, highlighted lectures, charrettes and social events Feb. 7, 2014 at the 39th annual Aggie Workshop.

More than $12,000 was raised for Bryan/College Station’s Habitat for Humanity by Texas A&M construction science students and industry sponsors during an April 11 golf tournament at Briarcrest Country Club in Bryan.

On Saturday, April 28, Texas A&M urban planning students are staging the “Urban Plan-It Challenge,” a fun-filled, campuswide fund-raising competition based on the popular “The Amazing Race” television series. Contestants will vie for prizes in a series mental and physical tasks related to challenges confronting the planet.

Professional landscape architects shared their knowledge with students Feb. 10-11 at the Langford Architecture Center in a series of presentations, discussion panels and charrettes at the 2012 Aggie Workshop, which this year took a holistic approach to design.

Students in Texas A&M’s University Honors Program recognized the mentoring efforts of Stephen Caffey, assistant professor of architecture, with enough votes for the Wells Fargo Honors Faculty Mentor Award.

Members of the Texas A&M student chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association conducted an energy audit of Neeley Hall, a campus dormitory, as part of their competition entry in the NECA's annual 2011 Green Energy Challenge. Finalists will present their work at the Oct. 22–25 NECA Convention in San Diego.

Winning entries in Tau Sigma Delta’s Texas A&M Student Art Competition earned their creators $50 scholarships and were displayed in a Houston gallery April 4-8. The winning pieces and the rest of the submitted work were also exhibited at the college’s Wright Gallery March 26-29.
