Wright Gallery fall season opening exhibit to showcase Texas artist

Tommy Fitzpatrick

A Texas artist with a deep understanding and appreciation of architecture, [Tommy Fitzpatrick] (http://www.tommyfitzpatrick.com/) will have his work featured in “Working Model,” Aug. 28 – Oct. 15, 2019, at the Wright Gallery, Langford Architecture Center building A on the Texas A&M campus.

Fitzpatrick will explain his work in a walkthrough reception 4 p.m. Aug. 28 in the gallery.

“Working Model” shows Fitzpatrick’s growth as an artist over the past two decades, moving from his beginnings painting architecture as a geometric representation, to abstract work turning found materials into sculptures, which form the basis for his paintings.

His work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Dallas, Houston, New York, Madrid, London, Berlin and Seoul.

This will be the first Wright Gallery show of the Fall 2019 season. In mid-October, the gallery will host an exhibit inspired by the teaching and legacy of [Bruce Goff] (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/10/t-magazine/bruce-goff-architecture-midwest.html) , a prolific, startlingly original self-taught architect.
