Prof tapped to advise landscape architecture outreach initiatives

Kim has also served as CELA Region 3 director .

With a 2016 appointee to the advisory panel for the [Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture] (http://www.thecela.org) , Jun-Hyun Kim, assistant professor of [landscape architecture] (http://laup.arch.tamu.edu) at Texas A&M University, will provide guidance to the group’s communications, outreach and publications committee.

Kim previously served three years as director of CELA’s Region 3, an area that includes Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas. As director he coordinated regional CELA meetings, surveyed members, attended board meetings and served as the region’s executive officer.

Established in 1920, CELA advocates and provides a forum for landscape architecture education programs, and fosters and disseminates landscape architectural scholarship with its refereed publication, [Landscape Journal] (http://lj.uwpress.org/) .

Kim joined the Texas A&M faculty in 2011 after earning a [Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science] (http://laup.arch.tamu.edu/academics/graduate/ursc/) at Texas A&M.

His interests include landscape spatial patterns and human behavior, natural and built environments, public health, landscape ecology and environmental perception, sustainable and healthy community design, low-impact development and evidence-based design methodology.
