Former design student named president of REES Associates

Allan Parr

Allan R. Parr, who earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design degree from Texas A&M in 1988, has been named president of REES Associates, Inc., an architectural, planning, and interior design firm with offices in 10 North American cities.

“I could not be more excited about this opportunity,” Parr said. “REES has a long history of delivering high-quality work and building lasting relationships,” said Parr. “We recognize that industry leadership requires focus, commitment, and constant reinvention. With this in mind, we have aligned our resources to focus on design innovation, the use of leading-edge technologies and, as always, a commitment to outstanding client service.”

A registered architect and member of the American Institute of Architects, Parr has more than 20 years of experience including project, engineering and construction management, facilities operation, architectural and interior design, business and workplace standards development, occupancy planning, American Disability Act compliance, and virtually all aspects of real estate operations for corporate and mission-critical operations such as data centers and product development laboratories.

Parr joined the firm in 2009 as chief operating officer and director of operations for REES’ Dallas office, and currently oversees the firm’s Houston operation. He assumes the role of president from firm founder and current chairman Frank W. Rees, Jr. In addition to serving as the second president in the firm’s history, Parr will continue to act as its chief operating officer.

Prior to joining REES, Parr’s experience included leadership of the Design, Engineering and Project Management organization for Hewlett Packard’s North America Region, as well as real estate manager for the worldwide headquarters of Compaq Computer Corporation, with comprehensive facility management responsibilities for more than six million square feet of administrative, laboratory, and manufacturing space which housed more than 12,000 employees.

His previous experience also includes consulting with architecture and interior design practices in the roles of senior managing director, project director, project manager and project architect. In addition to corporate and mission critical facilities, Parr has experience in higher education, speculative commercial, retail, healthcare, hospitality, and residential project types.

Parr also holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.
